The Supreme Court set aside a High Court judgment that had quashed multiple FIRs filed in relation to the same incident. The Court found that after staying the High Court's order, investigation proceeded and charge sheets were filed with cognizance taken. Rather than examine the High Court's substantive view on the FIR quashing, the Supreme Court allowed the accused to apply for discharge before the trial court on all available grounds, including those previously urged before the High Court. These discharge applications, and any application to consolidate the separate trials, must be decided independently by the trial court without being influenced by the High Court's earlier observations.
