In Brief
The State of Haryana and others challenged the High Court's determination of compensation for lands acquired from respondents. The Supreme Court reviewed the land valuation methodology and found the High Court's award of Rs. 1,46,09,000 per acre excessive. Applying a calculation based on a base price with a 12-13% increase and deducting development costs, the Court reduced the compensation to Rs. 95 lakhs per acre, including statutory benefits. The appeals were disposed of by reference to an earlier connected judgment."
