In Brief
The State of Rajasthan challenged a High Court order that had stayed the legislative process regarding reservation policies. The Supreme Court held that the High Court's stay on the legislative process was uncalled for and therefore stayed that part. However, to protect constitutional limits, the Court restrained the State Government from taking administrative action or conferring reservation benefits that would exceed the constitutionally permissible 50% threshold. This direction would remain in force until the High Court finally disposed of the underlying writ petition. The special leave petition was disposed of accordingly.
