The State of Uttar Pradesh challenged High Court orders that restricted its officers' freedom to pass new administrative decisions and repeatedly required their appearance in court. The Supreme Court held that administrative orders made in accordance with law are presumed valid and made in good faith. Once a court directs an officer to act lawfully and the officer complies with a reasoned decision, the court cannot impose further conditions or repeatedly summon the officer. The High Court exceeded its authority by restricting how future orders must be framed and by repeatedly securing the officers' presence. The Supreme Court set aside the impugned orders and allowed the appeals.
