In Brief
The Supreme Court dismissed a special leave petition by the State of Uttarakhand challenging a High Court order relating to the treatment of Ayurvedic doctors under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM/NHM) Scheme. While dismissing the petition, the Court clarified that Ayurvedic doctors are entitled to parity of treatment with Allopathic Medical Officers and Dental Medical Officers under the scheme. The Court also noted that it is not its role to direct parties to file review petitions, leaving such remedial action to the discretion of the parties themselves.
