SURINDER DOGRA vs STATE THROUGH DIRECTOR CBI

Bench: 2 — Sudhanshu Dhulia, Prashant Kumar Mishra

In Brief

The appellant, a Traffic Superintendent at Jammu Airport, was convicted of forging airline tickets. He prepared an infant ticket under a fictitious name, then altered it to an adult ticket for a different passenger with a different route and higher fare, enabling unauthorized travel. Handwriting experts and witness testimony confirmed the forged documents were in his handwriting. The Trial Court and High Court both found him guilty under forgery and corruption laws, sentencing him to six months imprisonment and fines. The Supreme Court upheld the conviction, finding the evidence conclusive that only the appellant, who exclusively controlled the tickets, could have committed the forgery. Appeal dismissed.
