United Nurses Association through its President vs Union of India & Ors

Bench: 3 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

Two writ petitions were filed by United Nurses Association seeking comprehensive policy directions from the Union of India for the welfare and safety of health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The petitioners sought about 14 directions, including protection kits and police protection. The Court found that many issues had already been addressed through an earlier interim order and that the Government had established helpline numbers and control rooms for monitoring. The Court disposed of the petitions while granting the petitioners liberty to lodge complaints through the Government's grievance redressal mechanisms.
