In Brief
The Supreme Court transferred and disposed of a marriage petition pending in the Bandra Family Court to itself after the husband and wife executed a comprehensive settlement deed before the Court. The parties, after judicial mediation, agreed to a full and final settlement involving Rs. 5 crore in monetary compensation, exchange of personal belongings, and a mutual waiver of all future claims and alimony. Upon realization of the settlement amount, the parties may formally seek dissolution of marriage under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The Court noted that the settlement was achieved through parties' free consent and cooperation with Court-facilitated mediation."
