Ajayinder Sangwan and Ors vs Bar Council of Delhi

Bench: 2 — R.K. Agrawal

In Brief

In this interlocutory application, the Court addressed delays in verifying law degrees for bar council elections. Advocates who had submitted application forms and law degrees within the prescribed time were to be provisionally included in electoral rolls and permitted to participate in elections, even though degree verification was incomplete at universities. Those found to possess false or fake degrees upon verification would be subsequently excluded. The earlier timeline was modified to allow elections to proceed while verification continued, with all results remaining subject to final determination upon completion of verification and the main petition.
