This appeal concerns Hindu succession and coparcenary rights. The High Court had dismissed the appellant's suit on grounds of lack of locus standi after partition of coparcenary property. The Supreme Court allowed the appeal, holding that shares allotted to coparceners in partition retain their coparcenary character and pass to male descendants. The appellant, as an interested party, had standing to challenge alienations of the property. The Court ordered the appellant be recorded as owner in the Jamabandis (revenue records) and held that the earlier sale deeds could be challenged even after partition, overturning the High Court's reasoning.
