Balwant Singh (D) through LRs. Gurbinder Singh vs State of Haryana & Others Etc. Etc

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

Multiple consolidated civil appeals challenged the compensation awarded for land acquired under three different notifications (7 April 1986, 5 June 1992, and 3 July 1995) by the State of Haryana for public purposes. The High Court had assessed compensation based on market values per square yard, but the claimants and State disputed the amounts. The Supreme Court held that the High Court's determination was inadequate. The Court modified the judgment and fixed compensation at Rs. 435 per sq. yard for the 1986 acquisition, Rs. 860 per sq. yard for the 1992 acquisition, and Rs. 1210 per sq. yard for the 1995 acquisition. The appeals were allowed with the revised compensation figures upheld."
