The parties subsequently settled their dispute and sought court permission to compound the offence under Section 320 CrPC. The Supreme Court granted permission to compound offences under Sections 325/149 and 323/149, finding Section 148 was not established on the evidence. The conviction was set aside and the appeals were allowed.
