In Brief
The appellants were convicted of voluntarily causing hurt, grievous hurt, and wrongful restraint (IPC §§ 323, 325, 341) and sentenced to concurrent imprisonment. Both the trial court and High Court upheld the conviction. However, the parties—who were family members—later reconciled amicably with the intervention of family elders. The de facto complainant and State both sought compounding of the offences. The Supreme Court held that in the interest of restoring family peace, the offences should be compounded, and accordingly disposed of the appeal."
