The Supreme Court considered contempt petitions arising from alleged violations of its 21.03.2017 order in a 30-year-old Company Petition concerning Baranagore Jute Factory. The respondents were directed not to operate bank accounts without securing Rs.8,32,60,331 and to maintain a fixed deposit lien. The Court found the respondents' conduct was not graceful and attempted to circumvent orders, but accepted their unconditional apology and that of the Bank Manager. Rather than pursue formal contempt proceedings, the Court discharged the rule against the Bank Manager, accepted the respondents' apology, and directed the Company Judge to dispose of the petition within four months on a day-to-day basis with strict conditions on adjournments and costs. All contempt petitions were disposed of.
