In Brief
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission conducted a recruitment examination for 1,569 Class III posts (later increased to 3,285) and published results in 2013. Following writ petitions challenging certain questions and answers, the High Court directed re-evaluation and the single judge and division bench each made corrections independently. The Supreme Court appointed an expert committee to definitively determine correct answers to disputed questions. Finding that unilateral re-evaluation by courts had caused chaos and uncertainty, the Court set aside both High Court judgments and directed the BSSC to re-evaluate results based on the expert committee's recommendations, while protecting previously made appointments until 31.12.2019.
