Three men convicted of murder were acquitted by the Supreme Court. They had been convicted alongside others for the death of Raju Bose in 1995, based on the trial court and High Court findings. The Supreme Court examined the eyewitness evidence and found that all prosecution witnesses consistently stated the appellants only participated in a scuffle and held the victim, but did not strike any blows with weapons. Since it was unclear whether their actions were intended to enable the fatal blow, the Court granted them benefit of doubt and acquitted them of murder charges under Section 302 read with Section 34 IPC. The appellants were released immediately.
