In Brief
The Supreme Court allowed two appeals by government employees (Budh Ram and others) against the State of Haryana, extending the same benefit granted to similarly situated employees in an earlier case (Piyara Singh). The Court held that since the appellants were in identical circumstances, they were entitled to a cumulative 12% increase in pay from 2000 without any deductions. The appellants, however, were excluded from receiving statutory benefits for the period of delay in implementing the order.
