In Brief
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) challenged a decision regarding land acquisition under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, holding that DDA was covered by earlier precedents. However, in exceptional circumstances, the Court granted DDA a one-year period to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) by issuing a notification. If fresh proceedings are not initiated within this period, DDA must return physical possession of the land to the owner. The appeal was dismissed with no order as to costs.
