In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed against a judgment concerning land it was holding without proper acquisition proceedings under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, holding that the issue was already settled by prior judgments. The Authority was given one year to either initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 11 of the Act or return physical possession of the land to the original owner.
