In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed against an order regarding land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finding the issue was covered against the DDA by prior judgments. However, in view of the peculiar circumstances, the DDA was granted one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. If no such proceedings were initiated within that period, the DDA was required to return physical possession of the land to the owner.
