In Brief
The Food Corporation of India appealed against High Court orders requiring it to extend Industrial Tribunal award benefits (regularization of contract workers) to employees at its Kerala depots. An earlier Supreme Court ruling had upheld the award for Chennai branch workers. The Court found the Kerala and Chennai workers were similarly situated with no distinguishing features, and the High Court properly extended the award benefits to Kerala workers. Technical objections could not override the settled industrial award. Both appeals were dismissed.
