The Supreme Court issued directions to seven States (Odisha, Telangana, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand) to comply with its January 2018 order requiring the establishment of Human Rights Courts and appointment of Special Public Prosecutors. Six States were directed to file responses within four weeks on payment of Rs. 50,000 costs each. Rajasthan, which failed to appear, was imposed Rs. 1 lakh in costs. The case was listed for further arguments regarding disputes between child rights commissions."
