In Brief
Two connected criminal special leave petitions were filed with disputes underlying them referred to arbitration under Section 11(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The Supreme Court held that an arbitrator appointed to mediate and resolve the disputes between parties warrants interim protection from arrest for petitioner No.1 (Naresh Kumar) pending the arbitrator's report on whether amicable settlement has been reached. The earlier interim order was continued, and the case was listed for the next hearing on 16 November 2018.
