In Brief
A woman candidate challenged her unsuccessful interview for a Professor position, arguing that AICTE Regulations should have governed her recruitment instead of the State's advertised selection criteria. The High Court sided with her, invalidating the 2015 selection process. The Supreme Court reversed this, holding that AICTE Regulations apply only to career advancement of existing teachers, not to direct recruitment of new professors. Since the candidate participated in the advertised process without objection and failed to secure the required marks, she could not later invoke unrelated regulations. The Court upheld the original recruitment.
