In Brief
This judgment addresses applications to recall a prior Supreme Court decision on land acquisition compensation (Wazir v. State of Haryana, decided 11 January 2019). Landowners challenged alleged errors in the compensation calculation and tabular data. The Court rejected the recall application on substantive grounds, holding that factual discrepancies not raised earlier cannot form grounds for recall. However, it identified and corrected genuine arithmetical errors in calculating per-acre compensation values for multiple villages. The Court rejected the claim that a prior decision guaranteed minimum compensation and clarified landowners must return any excess paid, without interest if returned by 30 June 2019, or with 9% per annum interest thereafter."
