In Brief
The Indian Evangelical Lutheran Church Nagercoil Synod challenged a District Education Officer's decision of 13 April 2018 on the ground that it lacked procedural fairness. The Supreme Court held that the decision should be set aside and remitted for a fresh determination. The District Education Officer was directed to reconsider the matter after affording personal hearing to all parties—the appellant and respondents 1, 2, 5, and 6. The Court maintained the status quo pending the fresh decision, to be made within three months, and clarified that any approval granted to the sixth respondent would be subject to the new decision.
