In Brief
A university institute cancelled faculty appointments made after a selection process held on 6 April 2013, citing irregularities in the advertisement and authority. The High Court quashed the cancellation, finding it violated natural justice because the decision was based on a Status Report not shared with the affected teachers. The Supreme Court held that the institute should have provided the Status Report, given reasonable time for response, and offered a hearing before reconsidering. The institute's subsequent show-cause notices were set aside as unwarranted. Teachers were deemed in service pending a fresh, properly constituted decision.
