The Court held that a degree in one specialized branch of History does not satisfy an advertisement's requirement for a general History degree. The advertisement's educational qualifications were clear and unambiguous, admitting no deviation. An expert committee had also confirmed that specialized History degrees do not meet the requirement. The Court affirmed that courts should defer to expert committees on educational qualification matters and found the cancellation of candidatures justified.
