J. Linet vs Assistant Manager (Depot) Food Corporation of India & Ors

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

J. Linet, a casual worker employed as a Messenger by the Food Corporation of India, sought additional payment for work performed in that position beyond her normal duties. The High Court found that the appellant had worked as a Messenger for two and a half years on the strength of a formal order and was entitled to additional remuneration for this work. The Supreme Court upheld this finding as final and directed the respondents to disburse the wage differential for the two-and-a-half-year period, after adjusting emoluments already granted, within two months."
