The respondent Sanjay Gupta, despite filing a binding undertaking with the Supreme Court in October 2004 to cease all industrial activities from his residential premises in Delhi, continued operating a Dal Mill there until March 2015. This was in direct violation of the Court's landmark 2004 order directing closure of all unauthorised industrial units in residential areas. Though alternative industrial premises were allotted to him, he deliberately disregarded both the court order and his personal affidavit. The Court found clear contempt and sentenced him to ten days imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 per month from May 2004 to March 2015 for willful violation of court directions.">
