Kamaljit Kaur vs State of Punjab & Ors

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

This case involved a dispute over the appointment of an Anganwadi worker between a daughter and daughter-in-law. After the daughter-in-law rejoined following interim Supreme Court orders and worked for ten years, the Court invoked Article 142 of the Constitution to do complete justice. Rather than deciding the dispute on merits, the Court directed the appellant to pay ₹1 lakh to the other party as full and final settlement and recognized the appellant's service for all purposes. Both appeals were disposed of accordingly.
