In Brief
The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation challenged a High Court order directing it to pay an additional 2% pay revision to Assistant Executive Engineers appointed in 2007 from their appointment date. The Supreme Court partially allowed the appeal. It held that while these employees are entitled to the 2% benefit, it must be granted subject to the performance conditions specified in the original pay revision order dated 02.06.2008—not automatically from appointment. The Court noted that probationers in their first year must be placed at the minimum pay scale and that employees must achieve specified performance targets to qualify for the additional 2% hike.
