In Brief
The appellants challenged land acquisition proceedings under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. The land was notified for acquisition for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Project, but was allegedly to be used for establishing a Medical College. The appellants contended that approximately 1000 sq. yards could not accommodate a medical college and that rehabilitation plots provided were inadequate. The Supreme Court found these material issues had not been examined by the High Court and remitted the matter for fresh consideration, without expressing any opinion on the merits.
