M.C. Mehta vs Union of India & Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

This case addresses severe air pollution in Delhi and the NCR region through a public interest petition. Despite the odd-even vehicle scheme, pollution had reached critical levels. The Supreme Court directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee to conduct random checks on three-wheelers and vehicles used by government corporations. The Court also required the Central Pollution Control Board and Delhi government to provide updated pollution data and mandated that the Development Authority, public works departments, and all Delhi corporations fully cooperate with the monitoring committee, warning of serious consequences for non-compliance."
