The appellants challenged the cancellation of their selection for positions as Diploma Trainees and Technician Trainees at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) following Advertisement No. 2 of 2011. The High Court had upheld the cancellation. The Supreme Court disposed of the appeals after HAL confirmed in writing that it had no immediate recruitment plans for these posts as the underlying projects had not yet materialized. The Court directed that any future recruitment to these posts must accommodate the petitioners.
