In Brief
Manoj Kumar Soni challenged the High Court's bail order that imposed a deposit as a precondition for his release. The Supreme Court found that co-accused officials from the Excise Department had been granted bail without any such deposit condition. The Court held that this disparity was unjustifiable and modified the High Court's order by removing the deposit requirement. The appellant was thus entitled to bail on the original terms without having to make any deposit. The appeal was allowed.
