In Brief
A private dental college sought directions to conduct its own entrance examination (SSET, DMAT, Pre PGDMAT) for postgraduate admissions in 2016-17. The Court dismissed the application, finding the examination deadline under Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations had already passed on 15 February 2016, and permitting a fresh test would disrupt the statutory admission schedule and compromise fairness. Instead, the Court permitted selection of candidates based on inter-se merit from the existing list of successful candidates in the All India Examination, with the State conducting counselling.
