A group of appellants attacked and fatally injured Machindra, an electric technician, in his courtyard with swords and knives in 1992. The trial court acquitted all accused, doubting the eyewitness accounts. The High Court reversed, finding the three eyewitnesses credible and corroborated by medical evidence and chemical analysis showing the deceased's blood group on recovered weapons. The Supreme Court upheld the conviction, holding that eyewitness evidence need not be rejected based on witness conduct, family relationship, or omission from FIR if registration was prompt. The convergence of eyewitness testimony, autopsy findings of 26 injuries, and forensic evidence conclusively proved guilt.
