N. Jayaramachandran challenged a lower court decision in two civil appeals against S. Sundaresan. When the case came before the Supreme Court, both parties expressed willingness to settle through mediation. The Court referred the matter to the Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Centre at Madras. Following successful mediation, the parties executed a Memorandum of Compromise on 11 April 2017. The Court accepted this settlement and disposed of both appeals in terms of the compromise agreement, without awarding any costs.
