P. CHANDRIKA vs THE COMMISSIONER, COMMISSIONER OF URBAN LAND CEILING AND URBAN LAND TAX AND ANR

Bench: 3 — Uday Umesh Lalit, S. Ravindra Bhat, Hrishikesh Roy

In Brief

This review petition challenged a Division Bench judgment rejecting a writ petition under the Urban Land Ceiling Act, 1978. The petitioner contested possession of excess urban land, but a prior Special Leave Petition against the Division Bench judgment had been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The Court found no error apparent on the record to justify review interference. Accordingly, the review petition was dismissed, holding that review lies only to correct errors appearing on the face of the record, not to re-litigate substantive matters already decided.
