In Brief
The Supreme Court addressed whether the newly formed State of Chhattisgarh could create a fresh First Register of pharmacists after its separation from Madhya Pradesh. Holding that the First Register prepared by the erstwhile Madhya Pradesh is deemed to be the First Register for Chhattisgarh based on territorial nexus of residential addresses, the Court ruled no new Registration Tribunal was competent to prepare a First Register afresh. Pharmacists already registered before the Education Regulations came into force need not satisfy those Regulations if seeking registration in another State under Section 32(2). The appeal was disposed of accordingly.
