In Brief
A husband appealed against the High Court's dismissal of his divorce petition. The parties had been married in 1998 and lived separately due to strained relations. When the case was pending before the Supreme Court, both parties arrived at an amicable settlement through mediation. The Court dissolved the marriage under Article 142 of the Constitution on the agreed terms: the husband agreed to pay Rs. 10 lakhs as full settlement of maintenance and other claims, deposit Rs. 3 lakhs for the daughter's education and marriage, and contribute another Rs. 1 lakh at the daughter's marriage. All pending disputes between the parties were to be withdrawn.
