Punjab State and Bimla Devi filed a Special Leave Petition with condonable delay regarding connected matters already addressed in a batch of civil appeals. The Supreme Court condoned the delay and granted leave, but disposed of the appeal by reference to a prior order dated 11 January 2017 that had remitted connected matters to the High Court. The Court found it unnecessary to issue fresh notice to respondents and disposed of the appeal in terms of the batch judgment, which forms part of this order.
