The Supreme Court addressed a sexual abuse case involving a child under the POCSO Act. The Sessions Court had sentenced the appellant to 10 years imprisonment plus a fine. The High Court upheld this. However, the Supreme Court found that the appellant had already served more than seven years (the prescribed minimum). Considering that he was financially supporting the victim and her child, the Court held that justice was served by reducing the sentence to the period already undergone. The conviction was confirmed, but the appellant was ordered released immediately, with the compensation to the victim unchanged.">
