In Brief
In this contempt petition order, the Supreme Court clarified its previous restraint order against Sahara Group. The Court held that the freeze on asset alienation does not prevent other courts from executing consumer protection judgments against Sahara companies, nor does it bar consumer redressal commissions from proceeding with pending complaints. The Court directed Sahara to furnish a complete list of properties for asset recovery and clarified that amounts and commodities (including gold) held in Sahara company accounts must be surrendered to SEBI for adjustment against outstanding dues. Several interlocutory applications were disposed of accordingly.
