In Brief
Shri Venkateshwara University's medical college faced debarment for two years (2017-2018 and 2018-2019) by the Union of India and Medical Council of India following inspection deficiencies and alleged institutional non-compliance. The Supreme Court partly allowed the petition. While rejecting renewal of permission for 2017-2018, the Court held that the surprise inspection on 9th December 2016 did not violate amended inspection regulations and did not warrant the debarment order. Students admitted for 2016-2017 were permitted to continue. The Court ordered a fresh inspection for the 2018-2019 session and prohibited encashment of the bank guarantee.",
