This appeal concerned the appointment of Shushma Pandey as Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Patliputra Medical College, Dhanbad, which was challenged before the Supreme Court. However, both the appellant and the respondent (Sheela Sharma) had retired from service by the time the matter reached the Court. Accordingly, the Supreme Court found that no live issue survived for adjudication and dismissed the appeal as moot.
