In Brief
The Supreme Court heard appeals by the State of Punjab challenging High Court judgments that fixed land values in land acquisition cases. The Court learned that a foundational judgment relied upon by the High Court had recently been set aside and remanded by the Supreme Court itself (via order dated 11.01.2017). Rather than issue fresh notices, the Court set aside the impugned High Court judgments and remitted all matters back to the High Court to be decided afresh and together with related proceedings, safeguarding the respondents' interests.
