The State of Tamil Nadu sought review of a Supreme Court judgment dated 2 December 2015 in respect of writ petitions and a criminal appeal. Review petitions filed 208 to 358 days after the original judgment were challenged as barred by delay. The Court found no satisfactory explanation for the condonation of such substantial delays. Further examining the petitions on merits, the Court found no error apparent on the face of the record warranting reconsideration. The review petitions were dismissed both on grounds of delay and lack of merit.
