In Brief
A murder case involving a politician's death became the subject of this appeal. The victim, a former Chief Minister's brother, was killed in 2019. After the CBI took over the investigation, it identified several conspirators. When one accused sought anticipatory bail, the High Court imposed conditions on the CBI's interrogation, requiring written/printed questioning and directing that questionnaires be handed over. The Supreme Court set aside these conditions, holding they were unwarranted and would prejudice the investigation. The Court clarified this would not prevent the High Court from deciding the bail application on merits, and extended the investigation deadline to 30 June 2023."
